Drywall cieling painting Question?

I just recently scraped popcorn texture off the cieling of a house and put joint compound up on a concrete cieling to fill cracks and holes.I sanded it real good then when i went to put primer on with a roller i was rolling it and parts of it pealed off the cieling onto the roller.I pulled pieces of the torn part and big sections started pealing real easy.I was scared to keep putting paint up because it might not stick.Could it be because the cieling had alot of dust on it.What should i do please help?Drywall cieling painting Question?
It sounds like the joint compound bonded to left over popcorn.

Remove all the joint compound and wipe down the entire ceiling with a wet cloth or sponge. Make sure to remove all loose material.

Then paint the whole thing with a PVA primer and let it dry. After it is dry you can skim coat with mud.Drywall cieling painting Question?
how did u get the popcorn down? Did u damp the ceiling then scrape it off? Did the join compound dry completely yet? Same as the ceiling. After u sanded it, did u vaccum or brush it all off? U have to make sure the ceiling or anything that u sand is really clean from the sand dust... or u'r jst rollng dust %26amp; paint.

Try it again.... make sure it's really dry %26amp; the dust is allll off. Then try a corner %26amp; c what happens. U should b good to go then.
mike is correct you have to prime the ceiling first drywall mud/joint compound does not bond to concrete without priming the concrete first as the primer acts as a better surface for the mud to bond to....painting/drywall contractor.
