Painted over Drywall patching on ceiling?

The previous owners of our home painted right over the taped joints on the ceiling, and they had unsanded drywall lines. This is in the garage. They only did this on one section. I was able to sand the other parts and with some mud I was able to make that part look nice. How would i tackle the painted part? Do I try to resand it?Painted over Drywall patching on ceiling?
If the ceiling is painted with flat paint skim it over with drywall mud, feather and paint with Lowe's Construction First Step Primer and then paint. Now if you want to eliminate the dust from sanding try and use a drywall sanding sponge which you can pick up in the drywall products sections of the stores. Using this with water works great and you'll become proficient at it with a little effort. . . alot less effort than the neverending cleaning of dust like from sanding.

If by chance this ceiling has a sheen like eggshell or semi-gloss, degloss the area(s) with some liquid sandpaper before applying any to coatings of drywall compounds to ensure good adhesion.Painted over Drywall patching on ceiling?
put another layer of joint compound over the painted area and sand it again. by the way sheetrock brand plus-3 is the easiest to sand.
