How to remove water spots on a painted drywall ceiling?

First, fix whatever caused to water mark to begin with. A leaky roof, a sweating pipe, whatever. If you don't get to the root of the problem then the stain will just keep reappearing, bigger and meaner than before. (you can skip this step if it was just a water fight ~_~)

Once the cause is fixed I would reccomend priming using an oil or shellac based primer (make sure the area is well ventilated). I have not had good luck using kilz on anything, water stains, wallpaper, old paint or new drywall... Worthless imo.

I use zinsser now, with good results. ( a couple of Zinsser links enclosed) Usually 1-2-3 but they have a whole range of primers, including at least three designed to hide stains, not just seal them from bleeding through the new paint.

Whatever primer you choose, prime well and follow the topcoating instructions. You may want to prime and paint the whole ceiling for a more seamless finish. (a paint ';patch'; tends to remain visible, at least from certain angles)How to remove water spots on a painted drywall ceiling?
KILZ stain block paint. It is available as a water or oil base. t is also available in spray cans, quarts and gallon can sizes. The quart and gallon sizes may be tinted slightly by the folks working the custom paint counter where it is sold.

Depending on the spots, two coats may be required. How to remove water spots on a painted drywall ceiling?
Cover with a paint product called Kills. Then re-paint with the same type of paint as the rest of the ceiling.
I would try a stain killer you may have to paint it agian

Kilz and new paint.
