How to remove paint from drywall?

I bought the supposedly low-odor, environmentally friendly ';Harmony'; paint from Sherwin-Williams. It was for my 3 year old child's room. But 4 months later the odor is still very strong and of course the room is still vacant waiting for the problem to be solved. The store manager came and admit that they may have sold me the wrong paint. :(, but he did not have any satisfying solution except suggesting that to paint another layer of primer and then paint the real Harmony paint. I am not sure that adding another layer of chemical (assuming it has its own odor and air emission) will do any good.

I would like to remove the paint with as little as possible harmful chemical involved. And we try to avoid the option of replacing the whole drywall.

Please help. Thanks. How to remove paint from drywall?
Paint gun is a bad idea because it won't work and it could expose you and your family to every thing ever put on that wall including lead.

My advice is to call Sherwin-Williams directly and tell them they need to take care of this. You did everything right. Have them send out a rep and test the room. The least they can do is repaint it for you. Have the cans with the lot #'s ready. If they say, ';No,'; call the better business bureau. There is no excuse for this! You could have painted with oil and the smell would have been gone in less than a week. There is something very wrong with what they sold you.How to remove paint from drywall?
There is no way to remove paint from drywall. Drywall is two layers of a heavy paper with gypsum sandwiched inbetween. When you apply paint it actually soaks into and becomes part of the outer layer of paper. It can't be removed, it can only be covered, by more paint or wall paper,........ or you can tear off the old drywall and reinstall new. That's about the only way your'e going to get rid of that odor.
I would leave it on. I would use Kills odor primer. It will hide the odor. Then use Behr paint it does have low voc. The smell will be gone in 2 days. I worked at home depot in the paint department. Many people came to me with the same problem. All paints has odor when wet but Behr drys faster and odor is gone sooner. I have use all brands out there and Dun Eduard's and behr are the best. The paint is set and dry on your wall. There realy is nothing that will take it off. You will reck the dry wall doing so.
You really can't remove paint from drywall. It's soft and porous. The only option (other than sealing it and painting over it again as the manager suggested) would be tearing the drywall out and replacing it, as you mention.
Replace the drywall.

The best and only option.

Drywall is like a sponge.
you will have to replace the drywall all together to solve your problem.(SORRY).
