How do you paint over pre manufactured home drywall with floral print?

We are about to buy a pre manufactured home. In the kitchen and bathrooms it has lovely drywall with floral print. How do we prepare walls and paint over it? Will the ';wallpaper'; just come off? I have been told to use Killz tinted to the paint color and then 2 coats of paint. I want to make sure that the flowers don't come back threw! How do you paint over pre manufactured home drywall with floral print?
You can test to see if the wallpaper can be painted over.

Hold a wet cloth against a seam for 15 minutes. If the seam doesn't bubble or curl away from the wall, you can paint right over the wall paper.

If the seam does come loose or form bubbles, you'll have to remove the wallpaper prior to painting. How do you paint over pre manufactured home drywall with floral print?
The wallpaper in mobil homes is nearly impossible to remove. It won't hurt to use a primer on your walls, but it may not be necessary. Open one of your cupboards and apply a layer of paint, allow it to dry, give it a few days to see if it bleeds through. I didn't use a primer on my wallpaper covered walls, and a single layer of paint covered completely.
My sister and I painted her living room and dining room walls by using craft paint and glaze. We didn't prime. It turned out great.and looked like suede after using scrunched up plastic grocery bags on it.

If you want a solid color I would prime with water-based Kilz-it and then paint. Might take 2 coats of primer(have it tinted to your paint color) but 1 coat of paint(Behr) should do it.

It will be fine!
You need to prime with a high adhesion primer. The wallpaper is vinyl, and the paint will scratch off. After the priming, use any paint you want.

If you want a REALLY nice job, remove the batten strips, mud and tape the seams and sand. Then prime. This will make the walls as smooth as sheetrock
Two coats of killz is your best bet
