I own a drywall and paint company. Do you think this is a good idea?

To go to privately owned businesses, mainly Restaurants and asking the manager or owner if he or she would be interested in having their property power washed? They would mainly run under 500 dollars

Of course, I will be neatly dressed and present them with my business card or brochure.I own a drywall and paint company. Do you think this is a good idea?
I think this is a great idea.

I would however recommend a little differing way to market it. If you are like a lot of drywall and painting contractors I know you are in need of cash flow with the extreme downturn in new construction. So you are thinking outside of the box and that is great!

Here is how I would market it. You are on track with dressing well and having a brochure/business card. Do NOT go to the restaurants between 7 AM-10AM or 11 AM-1 PM or 5 PM-7 PM. Go when you have a good chance of the store being a lot less busy. I would market this way. Before you go in, inspect the property to better speak to the issue that the building needs to be spruced up. Tell the manager that you don't want him to just take your word for it. Offer to clean a small area for no charge to show him the difference you can make to his restaurant and how it can positivley enhance his customers experience.

I am going to leave this next decision up to you. You could either clean a small back area of the building by the trash/back door which most likely is the dirtiest, or.....clean 1/2 of the area by the main entrance and ask the manager if he can see the difference and would like to hire you for cleaning the other half!! I don't think he will want a half cleaned front entrance area on his building and most likely will hire you on the spot!

Just my 2 cents worth...good luck and good thinking!

To incorporate this business with your drywall and paint company sounds like a good idea. Your initial expenses should not be that high, and considering that you already have the means to run a company, it could not hurt to try. It seems to me that you are in charge of this project yourself and probably hire people to help out when necessary...so most of it is labor intensive and that is where you make your money....on yourself....if you are confident, reliable and good at your trade, why not?
