Is there a way to clean water stains from a painted drywall ceiling?

I have brown water stains on the ceiling in my kitchen caused by a leak around a vent stack on the roof. I have repaired the leak and now need to clean up the evidence before we sell the home. I really don't want to paint the whole ceiling as it goes into the breakfast nook and living room. I also don't want to deal witn trying to match the paint and do a touch up. I put straight bleach on it and it removed 70% of the stain. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks. Is there a way to clean water stains from a painted drywall ceiling?
Unfortunately I have not learned in 15 yrs of Rehabbing%26amp; water damage repairs; anyway of ridding water stains/mold stains. You will need to go to your local HomeDepot etc. Purchase Kilz this is a water damage sealer and will not let water stains bleed through. Then paint the ceiling. If the paint is within 6months old you can do a patch job if not the paint will flash thus seeing where you touched up. Good luck.Is there a way to clean water stains from a painted drywall ceiling?
sorry there is only one way that I know that you can get rid of this stain affected area with a white base paint that is made for mold you can buy it at any hardware store. Paint the effected area then repaint over the area with the same color of pain that the original kitchen is. With any luck I am hoping that you can match it but probably you will have to pain the whole ceiling again .Why not just paint the ceiling white that way you won't have to match it up with the rest of the kitchen...............Good Luck
Borax. It is a detergent that helps to remove stains...for odor and for cleaning..if not...guess..you should go to the ol' Home Depot...for a small can of paint and be done w/it.
More bleach- I had that problem with mold in my bathroom before. Now that you got the top layer off, more bleach and even harder scrubbing. You may also try the mister clean magic eraser afterwards too. I have used it to clean dirt from tile grout (what bleach left behind there) and it got it all up. Good luck, and don't forget your elbow grease!
Kilz primer until you don't see it anymore may take two or three coats. then paint with any paint you want after that. Good Luck
Go to the home improvement store and buy some KILLZ. This will hide the stains. It is like a primer, you'll have to repaint the ceiling, but it will hide the stain for you.
Kiltz and two coats of white paint.
nope! you'll need to paint it with a sealant primer
