Tore off a layer of wall/paint/drywall?

I had a little whiteboard on my wall and I took it down today and a layer of the paint/wall came off where it was stuck to it exsposing i think the drywall. Everything I've found online is to fix holes in the drywall, not just exposed bit. How do I fix it? Just paint over it? Put drywall stuff over it then paint it? I'm completely ignorant of these kind of things, so i need any help I can get.Tore off a layer of wall/paint/drywall?
You must, if you want it to look right, prime the exposed wall board paper with an oil primer. Putting mud, spackling, or water based (latex) primer will have the tendency to raise the paper and loosen it where it isn't now.

Then after the primer dries (you can use any quick dry oil/alkyd primer) sand it lightly then you can either reprime if needed or if not, start the mud/spackling process that the others mentioned.Tore off a layer of wall/paint/drywall?
i would use spackle, much easier to work with
Go to your local Hardware store and get a container of compound. Fill in the exposed area with a putty knife and wait for it to dry. Once it's dry, sand it so it's smooth, like the rest of the surrounding wall. Once it's sanded, wipe it down with a damp cloth and let it dry again. Feel free to paint it to match the wall color. Good luck!
Apply a layer of dry wall joint compound, let dry and lightly sand before painting.
Go to your local DIY store and ask for a small container of wall putty (mud). Use a putty knife and apply over damaged area. (You don't want it real thick) Wait for it to dry and repeat process till it is level with wall and sand then paint!
