Remodeling kitchen how to remove marlite glue on the drywall so i can paint?

Most adhesives will permenantly bond to drywall. I'm sure you have found removing the adhesive removed some drywall as well. Replacing the drywall is the first option. If you think removing the drywall would be too difficult, (Having to cut around cabinets, remove moldings ect...) just scrape off the glue trying to do minimal damage to the drywall. You can then prefill any deep gouges with a quicksetting joint coumpound.A mesh tape may be needed. Then finish and ';feather'; with regular joint compound. It won't be fun. But drywall never is. No question about it, tear out the drywall that is covered with glue and redrywall the affected area. Drywall is extremely cheap so most if this part of the job will involve your time and elbow grease. Not sure you can do it ... hire a handyman for this type of job.

It may be easier to just replace the sheetrock.
